Inner Freedom Allows You the Calm of Knowing Everything's Gonna Be Alright

Surrender sounds like giving up or throwing in the proverbial white flag, but surrender has a counterintuitive effect — when you go with the flow, you don't fight the current, and everything becomes easier to manage!

Everything’s going to be alright.

Everything’s going to be alright.

When you learn to accept the flood that washes over you, you don't drown in resistance but instead develop inner freedom. It takes discipline as well as a realignment of the physical, emotional, and spiritual. But inner freedom allows us to live with our hopes and dreams, not in our fears and doubt.

Inner freedom is a feeling of knowing you are going to be okay no matter what happens in your life. It’s a place of calm in your heart, a place of peace and contentment.

It isn't a permanent state, though. You are human and from time to time, you will drift from the good practices and awareness you've developed. Remembering how you handled similar experiences in the past — by having an awareness of your own responses to different situations over time — will enable you to recognize that you have drifted off the path and help you to return to a place of calm and peace. And the more aware you are in this way, the shorter the time it takes to get back to a place of inner freedom, and the more time you get to spend there.

Think about inner freedom, using these questions from my book Better Than You Think.

— Are you aware of the moments in your life when you need to recalibrate?
— Have you ever not pursued a goal or dream in fear of what others might think of you? If so, when in your life have you not gone after your heart’s desires in fear of disappointing someone? How might you experience inner freedom by going after your goals?
— How does the act of surrendering play into inner freedom?

These concepts behind these questions are discussed in my book, Better Than You Think. Inner freedom is a joyous way of developing your awareness to live a more fulfilling life. When you choose to live in fulfillment, everything becomes better than you think.
